Heart

Heart is one of the most vital organs in our body, which pumps blood with a rhythm every second. It is very important to have adequate continuous blood flow to all the other parts of our body to provide oxygen and nutrients, as well as to assist the removal of metabolic wastes.

Heart is a muscular organ that is formed with four chambers. Two chambers on the right side receive the deoxygenated blood from the rest of the body and pump blood through lungs to receive oxygen and gives off carbon dioxide. Then, oxygenated blood will return to two chambers on the left side and is pumped to the rest of the body. Heart has to work constantly every second to keep every system in our body functioning.

As we age, the risk of having heart disease increase and function of the heart decline significantly. Cardiovascular diseases or heart diseases are the most leading cause of death globally. The causes of cardiovascular diseases are mainly due to lifestyle, genetic factors and also becoming more prevalent with ageing.

People with cardiovascular disease or who are at high cardiovascular risk (due to the presence of one or more risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidaemia, overweight, tobacco use, age, gender, family history or already established disease) need early detection through cardiac examination and investigations. In order to prevent cardiovascular event and further progressing of the disease, it is important to have proper management using medical and/or surgical treatments as needed.

Our Heart Institutes offer state-of-the-art medical technology to provide fast, accurate diagnoses through the most minimally invasive methods available. Using cutting-edge equipment, our experienced specialists are able to provide effective treatment for a variety of diseases and conditions that include coronary stenosis, congenital heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, aortic aneurysm, acute myocardial infarction, heart failure as a result of cardiomyopathy, mitral stenosis, valvular heart disease, pericardial disease and cardiac arrhythmia. After treatment, our team of rehabilitation specialists and physiotherapists helps the heart muscles recover strength quickly, reducing the risk of future complications.

We provide treatment and diagnosis for the following cardiac conditions:

  • Cardiovascular arrest
  • Coronary artery disease
  • Heart failure – Cardiomyopathy
  • Abnormal heart rhythm detection
  • Valve disease
  • Pericardial disease
  • Congenital heart disease
  • Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
  • Aortic disease
  • Carotid disease
  • Renal artery disease
  • Peripheral vascular disease
  • Pulmonary embolism
  • Prevention

Our medical staff provides excellence in their standard of care and bring years of experience, knowledge and caring to their profession of helping women.

Available Medical Investigations

Blood Test: As needed.

Example; Cardiac enzymes, Complete Blood Count, Lipid Profile, Fasting blood glucose, Coagulation Screen, Liver Function Test, etc.

Electrocardiogram (ECG): a bedside test which uses 12 leads surface electrodes on the body to record the electrical activity of the heart.

Exercise Stress Test: ECG test is performed during exercise to access the function of heart and blood vessels.

X-rays: it uses electromagnetic radiation that penetrates structures within the body and creates images of these structures on photographic film. X-rays image can provides information of lungs and heart.

Echocardiography: it is a type of ultrasound which uses high-pitches sound waves to identify the structure and function of heart chambers, valves and related vessels.

Coronary Angiogram: a test that uses X’rays using dye to provide detailed pictures of the coronary arteries which supply the heart with blood.

CT Scan: it uses X-rays to make detailed pictures of the heart’s size, evaluate for signs of fluid in and around the lungs and heart.
